I'd expect Mozilla to do that soon as the issue is widespread and affecting lots of Firefox users. The organization needs to renew the certificate or create a new one to resolve the issue. The issue can only be resolved on Mozilla's end. You could change the system date to the previous day to resolve it temporarily as well, but that can lead to other issues. You need to set the preference to false on about:config to disable signing.

Nightly, Dev and Android users may be able to disable signing of extensions some users reported that this resolved the issue temporarily on their end.

Please check your connection" errors when they attempt to download any extension from the official repository.
Corrupt firefox profile manager install#
Related issues have been reported: some users cannot install extensions from Mozilla's official Add-ons repository. Firefox will block the installation of extensions with invalid certificates (or none), and that is causing the issue on user systems.

Wish all the other software would stagnate too.All Firefox extensions need to be signed since Firefox 48 and Firefox ESR 52. (Then, I may play with various flavours of linux again - seeing as good old XP may stagnate. Then I'll be ready for a System Partition image before my preparation for the final XP clear-out. Dunno why there are 2 different versions of Shockwave Director? And there are multiple Java bits to unravel. This exercise has also revealed that my plugins are all over the shop, so a bit of add-on/plugin tidying is also overdue. Off to reawaken Mozbackup and also export all my profile/bookmarks. Somehow the default profile was temporaily corrupted whilst I may have been jumping around in Banking and Shopping modes, mid-update. But my Banking and Shopping profiles were still in the process of sorting themselves out with the various and different add-ons.

I had clicked the update button from within my default profile. But it must have to do this profile-by-profile, despite accessing a common exe file in the Program Files directory. I'd manually instigated the process (I never let software auto-update as it invariably does so at the most inconvenient moments). I think (from what the Mozilla Helpdesk contents suggest) it was that FF was updating to FF28.

I'm keen to get my FF corrected so that, once any final updates for XP arrive (in the next few days), then I can implement a complete strip out of all temp update files (like all the $NTuninstall baggage) and old Sys Restore Points and streamline XP for a final Macrium Image Pale Moon is a new one to me, but looks promising. I haven't used my Mozbackup since about FF3, since FF itself has an export/import settings - I'll try those 1st, then awaken Mozbackup. It's just the deskie that's affected (Lappie is OK) so my suspicion is either with the recent Win XP & Win security update, or I've picked up a nasty whilst surfing for bike parts on the web. It'll be easier just to remove FF completely and do a clean reinstall, if I cannot get the access control corrected quickly.

Ununistalling the old Bitdefender AVAS stuff and installing FSecure was a right kerfuffle, involving removing Spybot, Spywareblaster and Win Defender to install, then to have to reinstall that lot! I'm reluctant to go straight to this option since, at Xmas, Virgin switched AV/AS software supplier to FSecure, so loads of folders, etc, were switched around and quite recently, my O+O Defrag has finally just about got the file orders in running sequence. It's a sharp reminder that I was supposed to be doing a Macrium copy more frequently (i.e. Guess this may be a total uninstall and reinstall with FF 28 ? So, short of going back to a Macrium Image from late last year and reloading the folders or partition, any fixes? Tried to Restore from weekly backup - to no avail - no change. Tried System Restore back 2 weeks - well that failed (yet again - so that's a load of disk space I can free up by removing upmteen useless restore points, I guess - ) Well it's not and they are still in my "docs & settings" folders. The FF error messages say something like "Firefox already running" and "Profile not found". Monday: now, I have to R click, run as administrator, to get any FF profile to run.

FF profiles opened on my various user accounts direct from the desktop icons. I then got a load of XP updates sent and installed by MS - hopefully only 2 more weeks of this, then no more - and also did a bit of web work. Last weekend, FF27.0.1 was going great, on my XP setup.
